OUR STORY
“TRU VIRTUE IS FOUND IN NATURE.“
Growing up in Wyoming, Tru Virtu Photography founder Spenser Yowell would not need to go far in order to seek nature. After learning about how wild mustangs ran through the local sage for generations, he knew that he had to find them. A benevolent experience with a small band of mustangs would change his life forever. No longer were they just wild horses but he started to notice individual character. At night he’d lie awake in bed wondering about the animals, what were the newly born foals doing? Where are they sleeping tonight and what challenges may present themselves? This only fueled the addiction to spend as much time studying the wild animals as possible. Soon enough the love for our country’s animals would take him across the West.
I use photography to convey my life's experience and love for wildlife. The pursuit of my images involves using all of the senses. I stay vigilant to capture rare moments. I never bait any animals and the pursuit is only surpassed by one thing: the acceptance. This is what I live for. Once I have spent enough time with a species, I can start to understand their behavior. This will form an unspoken acceptance from the animals. Only after reaching this flow state will I capture and bring the images to you.
